Not Just Another Day. It's Another Snow Day. And Giveaway #3.
I am late in getting this posted, but guess what today was? Another Snow Day. While we are on this subject, guess what tomorrow is? That's right. Another Snow Day.
So, here's a photo of the latest round of snow:

I think it was close to 9". It was hard to tell because the wind was blowing so hard that the snow was making huge drifts. Highway 70 was closed for 14 hours from our exit (we live less than 1/4 mile from the exit) all the way to Kansas City. Fun times.
I have another giveaway for today. Winning is different this time. Leave a comment here to receive 1 entry. Receive 1 additional entry for posting this contest link on your blog, facebook, or twitter. Be sure to leave a link to where you posted in your comment so your extra entry can be counted. Check back on Wednesday, February 9, for the winner.
Up for grabs today is a fat quarter of Amy Butler's Duck Egg French Wallpaper. I love this fabric. You also receive your choice of a free pattern that I have in my possession. The patterns are from The Quilted Fish, and they are wonderful. I just don't have time to make all of them, so I thought I would share my stash.
Choice of patterns:
Posh Pennants
I Wub Ewe
Love Letters
Flowers for my Friend
Sassy Squares No. 2
Giddy Bloomers
Whoopsy Daisy
Bewitching
Year At-A-Glance

Another Day of Snow and Another Giveaway
Yesterday (Monday) was just some sleet, freezing rain, and heavy (HEAVY) rain that was ahead of the gigantic storm that has arrived here this morning. We now have a blizzard warning and the state has called out the National Guard. According to officials this is supposed to be the worst storm in over 20 years. We are still on the border between receiving 8-12 inches of snow and 12-24 inches of snow. Gah.
I'm sitting here on my laptop, watching the endless weather coverage on TV, and chilling with my doggie Max. He's siting on my foot - he loves being close to us - and chewing on a chicken flavored rawhide. It still boggles me why they make chicken flavored COW rawhides. Wouldn't BEEF flavor make more sense?
Yesterday the kids had a half day of school, so we all kind of chilled around the house with the dog and cat. I managed to read a book. An entire book. Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta. Which I read in advance of The Piper's Son being released on March 8.
I read 32 books in 2010, and 5 so far in 2011. I have so many more still on my to read list, and I add more almost every day. I love using Goodreads to keep track of my books and to find more books to read.
Giveaway time again. The cute little zipper pouch pictured below. All you have to do is leave a comment letting me know what you are currently reading, or a book that is on your to read list. Winner will be chosen on Tuesday, February 8.
You can also find me here on Goodreads. (Not required to enter giveaway.)

Go Away Snow!!!! (And a giveaway)
There has already been waaaaaay too much snow here this winter. We've had 5 snow days so far. We had close to 9 inches about 11 days ago. Not fun. That is also taller than my dog is. My husband had to shovel a path through the grass to the street sign where he likes to pee. His poo spot is in the backyard where the snow drifted as high as my knee. But Max managed to jump and hop his way back there, and we felt he deserved to have a place to poo without tunneling under the snow, so we were able to clear a big area for him.

Most of snow managed to stick around for a week and then started melting. It's almost gone now. But you know what's in the forecast for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday? Big storm. Massive storm. 1 to 1.5 inches of ice, followed by 1 to 2 feet of snow. FEET. We'll see how true the forecast is. It's possible it could not be as bad. Or it could be worse. Ugh.
Monday morning update: The freezing rain hasn't arrived yet. It will be here by noon. Now they are calling for up to 1 inch of ice and 12 inches of snow for my vicinity. But we are on the line where they are forecasting 18-24 inches of snow. So we'll see how this goes. I hope the roads don't get bad before the buses bring the kids home.
Giveaway time! Up for grabs today are these 2 little zipper pouches. I haven't given anything away in a long time, and I am making it so easy to win. Be sure to check back on Monday, February 7, to see if you've won. All you have to do is leave a comment below letting me know if you have had enough snow and snow days this winter, or if you want more snow. And for those of you who are currently where it is warm, can I come visit?

Laura Gunn Magnolia Lane

I recently purchased Laura Gunn's newest line, Magnolia Lane, from Fabric Flair on Etsy. According to Fabric Flair: "The vibrant yellows and greens combined with the cool turquoise blues and warm browns makes this a wonderfully serene collection that is also full of life." I really love these new prints. I have already started using them.

Merry Christmas!!
Be sure to check where Santa is!! You can already watch videos of Santa delivering presents, he is one fast big dude. We have checked Santa's progress for years. My kids are too old now, but they really enjoyed it when they were younger. So gather the kids and go to:
NORAD Santa Tracker
Merry Christmas!! My daughter is downstairs singing "White Christmas" because it is snowing, and yeah, we're having a white Christmas. Hopefully the roads will not be too terrible and we can make it to my parent's house and home again safely today.
I have been having a wonderful time sewing things for my Etsy shop. It's really weird knowing that I have little pieces of 'me' out there all over the world. I always hope that whoever is out there with my items enjoys using them as much as I enjoy making them.
Speaking of my Etsy shop, thank you to everyone who has purchased from me. I really appreciate it. I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, I hope you all are able to spend time with your family and loved ones, and I hope you enjoy your presents (even if it's an ugly sweater or a rock hard fruitcake, just smile and pretend!!).

Look what I made... something without a zipper!!
No zipper anywhere. Shocking, I know. But oh so cute and cuddly!!
My husband took off work on Wednesday so we could shop. I wanted to start at the mall, then work our way back home, stopping to get anything that we didn't get at the mall. Well, to our surprise, the mall wasn't open that early. I (mistakenly) thought that the mall would open up at least an hour earlier than usual considering it IS the week before Christmas. But no, they didn't open until 10 am.
So we went over to JoAnn's to grab something for me. I wanted to try making some scarves using pretty fabric on one side and something soft on the back. I wasn't sure if I wanted minky kind of fabric, or chenille, or just flannel. Then I found this stuff - it's soft and cuddly and fuzzy and SOFT and cuddly and fuzzy... you get the idea. It's very soft. It was half price, and I used my 20% off coupon, so I got a great deal.
For this scarf I used all Amy Butler prints in pinks and browns. It is 5 1/2 inches wide and 60 inches long, and it was very easy to make. I see more of these in my future.

On the 9th Day of Christmas...
I listened to Christmas music all day and slowly went nuts. I'm thinking I need to change my music selection. Some of these songs are just terrible. How does this stuff get released for public consumption? And the hip hop versions of classics is murder to the ears. 'Noel' becomes no-o-o-o-o-o-o-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-llllllll. Like Randy Jackson says - "too many runs and it was all over the place, dog. It was just alright."
Back to my sale information. Day 9 - all Flat Bottom Zipper Pouches are now on sale. Normally priced at $10, $12, and $14, now priced at $6, $7, and $8. Order now to get them in time for Christmas!!
