Guess What Today Is? Yeppers, Another Birthday!!
Today is my son's 17th Birthday. I am shocked at how old my kids are!! I sat down on the couch with him this morning and tried to hold him like a baby. He's like "Mom. What are you doing?" I told him this is what I did 17 years ago and asked him if it brought back memories? I get "Uh, NO" from him. LOL At least I still remember it like it was yesterday, so that's something.
Be sure check back one week from today, October 5, for yet ANOTHER birthday!! Something special may be going on that day. wink*wink

Amy Butler Lark
It seems like every time I turn around, Amy Butler has a new fabric line out. (I still don't have one single piece of her 'Love' line.) The newest line is called 'Lark'. I'm wondering if some of these coordinate with her other lines? It looks as though they may.
I really like the blues in this first photo. These are quilting weight cotton.
More quilting weight cotton. I'm not sure about most of these. They just aren't doing anything for me right now.
These are the cotton sateens, which are home decor weight. I like the fabric at the very top. All but one of the other sateens are the same color, so there isn't much variety there.

Oh My! It's Birthday Time Again
Today is my lovely daughter's 14th Birthday. Holy crap! How did that happen?!?!?
Here is a photo to show that she is officially taller than me now. I've been watching to see how tall she is. When school started on August 15, she was the same height as me. Now she is an inch taller. Oh my. Once upon a time I was 5' 7". Sometime recently I shrank to 5' 6 1/2". So she's not extremely tall, just taller than me. This is her in the middle, her friend on the right, and me on the left. I think she's slouching - so she's probably more than an inch taller than me, but she won't let us measure.

New Fabric
There is still time to enter This Week's Giveaway!
A comment on any post from the past week counts as an entry.
I finally got around to purchasing some new fabric from Sandi Henderson's Secret Garden line. I had a difficult time deciding which prints I like the most. I would love to have the entire line, but I finally settled on just a few. I was able to get 25% off (and free shipping!) at Quilthome.com
I have also wanted to get Aneela Hoey's Sherbet Pips fabric because they are so stinking cute. I managed to snag a jelly roll for half price (half price!!) and some other yardage at $6.00 per yard at FortWorthFabricStudio.com. There is also a new line called Little Apples that I need to get my hands on... or if anyone wants to send a charm pack or two my way, I wouldn't turn it down!!

Another New Bag!!
There is still time to enter This Week's Giveaway.
For this bag I used Anna Maria Horner's LouLouThi fabrics. Exterior is Clippings in Passion. Interior is Coreopsis in Sugar. I also used tan pre-quilted cotton on the interior. The pre-quilted cotton gives the bag shape and a nice thick padding to keep belongings from being bumped around.

3 New Bags!!!
I just made 3 new bags that I am getting ready to list on Etsy.
The first one is constructed using Anna Maria Horner's Drawing Room Sketchbook in Blue fabric. I love all of the Drawing Room fabrics, but the Sketchbook was the most popular and is hard to come by (that doesn't cost an arm, a leg, and your firstborn... or possibly ALL of your children). Includes a coordinating small zipper pouch.
This next bag was constructed using Joel Dewberry Aviary 2 Bloom in Granite. For the interior I used a tan pre-quilted cotton which adds a nice sturdiness to the bag. I used Scrollwork in Granite for the 4 interior pockets. Also includes a coordinating zipper pouch.
This last bag was constructed using Joel Dewberry Ginseng Wildflowers in Sage. Interior fabric is tan pre-quilted cotton and Tiles in Glacier. Interior features 4 pockets.

Weekly Giveaway
I loved every agonizing second of last night's U.S. Open match between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Lots of yelling and groaning was done on my part. It was a great match. Congrats to Novak on the win.... better luck to Rafa next time - you're bound to beat Novak sometime. lol. I think it was a great win for $2.3 million. 2nd place only got $900,000. I think I could stand losing for a payout of $900,000.

Tennis anyone?
Anyone else watching the U.S.Open?
The men's final is this afternoon, and I will be watching - half in agony, half in hope. Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are my 2 favorites - and I can't pick which one I want to win more. #2 Rafa needs to step up and defeat Novak if he wants to get that #1 spot back eventually. On the other hand, Novak has had a great year and deserves that #1 spot. See? My loyalties are hopelessly divided!
At least it will be entertaining.

Review - There You'll Find Me by Jenny B. Jones
There You'll Find Me by Jenny B. Jones
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Wonderfully written with diverse characters, There You'll Find Me is very heartfelt. I am not a religious person, so I was leery about reading this, but I am glad I did. While there were a few Bible verses, it wasn't overly preachy. Although I did find it odd that ALL of the secondary characters in this story had such firm religious beliefs. It was with the help and guidance of these characters that the protagonist, Finley, found her way through a difficult time.
Finley has lost touch with God after the death of her brother. Reading her brother's travel journal, Finley decides to follow in his footsteps and spend her senior year as an exchange student in Ireland. She believes that visiting the places that brought her brother closer to God will do the same for her.
On the plane to Ireland, Finley meets Beckett Rush, an actor and heartthrob who is a tabloid favorite. Because of Beckett's well publicized exploits, Finley wants nothing to do with him. Of course Beckett likes Finley due to her lack of interest in him. Beckett finds a way to spend time with Finley - by helping her locate and visit the places from her brother's journal.
I liked the slow build to the Finley/Beckett romance. They were able to let go and be themselves around each other, which lets the reader get to know them also.
While this is a serious book with lots of issues going on, it still had cute, fun, and entertaining moments throughout.
Thanks to Netgalley and Thomas Nelson for the eARC.
